In August 2001, RFRI, Inc. was chosen to be 1 of 20 community
sites here in Rochester, New York through a program sponsored by the Rochester Museum and Science Center called Science Linkages
in the Community (SLIC). This effort is a collaboration to help bridge the digital divide here in Monroe County.
In September 2001, RFRI, Inc. was honored to receive a generous
donation from Time Warner. This donation is to help inner city community based programs in their
efforts to provide technology in the community. Two centers were chosen to identify what hardware and software would be needed
to support their computer lab. We also received Road Runner for our Internet connection and cable
was installed as well. Outline of Classes Offered
Our classes are scheduled based on the needs of potential students at the orientation.
Volunteers of RFRI can instruct in advanced levels of PC fundamentals, Microsoft applications, fundamentals of the internet
and fundamentals of desktop publishing.
When students are comfortable with taking additional courses on their own, the Technology
Counselor will provide students with insight of where they can continue there training to pursue a Career In Technology with
The Academy for Career Development. Our long term goal is to provide all students with resume writing, job searching techniques
and soft skills to not only obtain but maintain their career of choice.
