The Rochester Fatherhood Resource Initiative's B.E.E.A.M.S.
Project (RFRI/BEEAMS) is a program that is designed to empower people to gain valuable experience in the construction and
skilled trades field while providing gainful employment and economic opportunity to an untapped resource of an under served,
hard to place emerging workforce supportive to area employers, contractors, and individuals. Our aim is to provide classroom
and hands on training, as employment opportunities to individuals in a variety of crafts and life skills. B.E.E.A.M.S. is
an acronym that means:
"Building Economic Empowerment,
Achieving and Maintaining Stability".
The BEEAMS/CLPER (pronounced clipper) Project
(Childhood Lead Poisoning Elimination and Reduction) is our initiative meant to address the lead poisoning situation in Rochester.
Although adults are at risk for lead poisoning, children 0-6 yrs. are particularly endangered. Lead poisoning is a strongly
linked causal factor for many deficits such as learning disabilities, behavior problems, hearing impairment and permanent
kidney damage. Lead poisoning adversely affects the grades, attention spans and criminal behavior patterns of our children.
Our efforts can help prevent many vulnerable children from being poisoned by their home and can cut the incidents of lead
poisoning down dramatically.
